THE GOLDEN HORN<\/strong> for the director of the best film \u2013 Rachel Leah Jones <\/strong>and Philippe Bellaiche<\/strong> for Advocate <\/strong>(Israel, Canada, Switzerland)<\/p>\r\n

Passionate filmmaking about a passionate subject. With precision, insight and humour, this film not only shows us a heroic woman fighting a battle against the odds, but who inspires us with her unwavering belief that justice can, and ultimately will, prevail.<\/em><\/p>\r\n

THE SILVER HORN<\/strong> for the director of the best medium-length documentary film \u2013 David Ofek <\/strong>and Tal Michael<\/strong> for Around the Bed of a Dying Collaborator <\/strong>(Israel)<\/p>\r\n

Bringing to light a subject that most of us had never known about, this patient, sensitive film is a complex portrait that helps us to understand how a father\u2019s actions can challenge his family and compromise the future of his sons. <\/em><\/p>\r\n

THE SILVER HORN<\/strong> for the director of the best feature-length documentary film \u2013 \u00c0lex Lora <\/strong>and Ad\u00e1n Aliaga <\/strong>for The Fourth Kingdom<\/strong> (Spain, USA, Mexico)<\/p>\r\n

A triumph of observational cinema. With great empathy, skill and nuance, the filmmakers reveal small moments of interaction and comraderie that gradually become profound statements on the human condition.<\/em><\/p>\r\n

The FIPRESCI (International Federation of Film Critics) Jury consisting of: Irena Kotelovich (Belarus), Nino Kova\u010di\u0107 (Croatia), Nachum Mochiach (Israel) has decided to award the International Film CriticsPrize to \u00c0lex Lora <\/strong>and Ad\u00e1n Aliaga <\/strong>for The Fourth Kingdom<\/strong> (Spain, USA, Mexico)<\/p>\r\n

Having watched all the competition films, the International Short Film Jury consisting of: Xawery \u017bu\u0142awski \u2013 chairman (Poland), Zbigniew Czapla (Poland), Mohammad Fahimi (Iran), Alexei Medvedev\u00a0(Russia), Sari Volanen\u00a0(Finland), has decided to award the following prizes:<\/p>\r\n

GOLDEN DRAGON <\/strong>for the director of the best film \u2013 Izabela Pluci\u0144ska<\/strong> for Portrait of Suzanne<\/strong> (Poland, Germany, France)<\/p>\r\n

For mastery in shaping the matter and brilliant balancing between surrealistic vision and reality. A complete and delightful work.<\/em><\/p>\r\n

SILVER DRAGON<\/strong> for the director of the best documentary film \u2013 Aleksandra Maciejczyk<\/strong> for Connected<\/strong> (Poland)<\/p>\r\n

For a real documentary thriller told with humour and understanding of family dynamics.<\/em><\/p>\r\n

SILVER DRAGON<\/strong>for the director of the best animated film \u2013 Bruno Tondeur <\/strong>for Under the Rib Cage <\/strong>(France, Belgium)<\/p>\r\n

For portraying our contemporary obsessions and fears in very innovative, funny and accessible way.<\/em><\/p>\r\n

SILVER DRAGON <\/strong>for the director of the best short fiction film \u2013 Dekel Berenson<\/strong> for Ashmina<\/strong> (United Kingdom, Nepal)<\/p>\r\n

Sharp analysis of a contemporary social contrasts. For its unique simple, but professional cinematography. A short story told with a great sensibility and heart creating a moving authentic film.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\r\n

SPECIAL MENTION<\/strong> for Ahmed\u2019s Song<\/strong> directed by Foued Mansour<\/strong> (France)<\/p>\r\n

The jury decided to distinguish the film, which probably the most amused and moved the viewers of the festival. This distinction goes to a mature film with well-thought-out dialogues and excellent actor performance.<\/em><\/p>\r\n

SPECIAL MENTION<\/strong> for Bror<\/strong> directed by Sara Hjort Ditlevsen<\/strong> (Denmark)<\/p>\r\n

The jury decided to distinguish the director\u2019s debut for the brave story, the natural style and great conducting of the actor.<\/em><\/p>\r\n

Jury Award for the Best European Film<\/strong> (Krakow Candidate to the European Film Award 2019 in the short film category) \u2013 Vuk Mitevski<\/strong> (Macedonia) for One of Many<\/strong><\/p>\r\n

The International Federation of Film Societies (FICC) Jury consisting of: Anita Moe (Norway), Grzegorz Pie\u0144kowski (Poland), Michael Sch\u00e4fer (Germany) has decided to grant the Don Quixote Award to the film Dandelion Mum<\/strong> directed by Barbora Hollan <\/strong>(Norway)<\/p>\r\n

The film tells the story about an extraordinary woman, who never gives up and struggle for her life, both against the cancer and by criticizing a health system which still takes decisions based on money instead of ethics and humanity. She is fighting with the same undestroyable positive energy as the Spanish character Don Quixote! The woman\u2019s struggling and the film can make a difference in the future, also for people without her capacity, intellect, knowledge, and science perspective.<\/em><\/p>\r\n

and the Special Mentionto the film: Ahmed\u2019s Song <\/strong>directed by Foued Mansour <\/strong>(France)<\/p>\r\n

It is a sweet story, well filmed, charming characters and it tells us an immigrant`s story through the eyes of an immigrant. Well done!<\/em><\/p>\r\n

INTERNATIONAL DocFilmMusic COMPETITION<\/strong><\/h3>\r\n

Having watched all the competition films, the International DocFilmMusic Jury, consisting of: Brett Morgen \u2013 chairman (USA), Adam Thorsmark (Denmark), Miko\u0142aj Trzaska\u00a0(Poland), has decided to award the following prize:<\/p>\r\n

GOLDEN HEYNAL<\/strong> for the director of the best film \u2013 Stian Servoss <\/strong>and Benjamin Langeland <\/strong>for Once Aurora<\/strong> (Norway)<\/p>\r\n

The Jury has decided to award the Golden Heynal to Once Aurora for artistic achievement and for elevating the musical documentary genre to new heights. The filmmakers mastery over the medium was awe inspiring and we look forward to seeing what they do next with their careers.<\/p>\r\n

NATIONAL COMPETITION<\/strong><\/p>\r\n

The Jury of the Polish Competition at the 59th Krakow Film Festival faced the difficult task of selecting the best out of 46 competition films, representing various genres and a varied, not always satisfying, artistic level.<\/p>\r\n

Having watched all the competition films, the National Competition Jury consisting of: Maciej Karpi\u0144ski \u2013 chairman, Weronika Bilska, Damian Nenow, Marta Prus, Tomasz Raczek has decided to award the following prizes:<\/p>\r\n

GOLDEN HOBBY-HORSE<\/strong> for the director of the best film funded by the President of the Polish Filmmakers Association \u2013 Grzegorz Paprzycki <\/strong>for My Country So Beautiful<\/strong> (Poland)<\/p>\r\n

For taking up the current topic in accordance with the tradition of Polish documentary film participating in public life.<\/em><\/p>\r\n

Mrs. Weronika Bilska did not take part in the notification by submitting a vote of separatum<\/p>\r\n

SILVER HOBBY-HORSE<\/strong> for the director of the best documentary film \u2013 Andrei Kutsila<\/strong> for Summa<\/strong> (Poland)<\/p>\r\n

For a valuable humanistic message, expressed in a mature, harmonious form.<\/em><\/p>\r\n

SILVER HOBBY-HORSE<\/strong> for the director of the best animated film \u2013<\/strong> Tomek Popakul <\/strong>for Acid Rain <\/strong>(Poland)<\/p>\r\n

For proving that a visually attractive animation language can be a tool for understanding important phenomena of the present day.<\/em><\/p>\r\n

SILVER HOBBY-HORSE <\/strong>forthe director of the best fiction film\u2013 Helena Oborska <\/strong>for Bitten<\/strong> (Poland)<\/p>\r\n

For a different approach to interpersonal relationships and for the search for the original language of film.<\/em><\/p>\r\n

The Award of the Polish Filmmakers Association <\/strong>for the best film editing \u2013 Szymon Kuczy\u0144ski<\/strong> for Strawberry Boys<\/strong><\/p>\r\n

Maciej Szumowski<\/strong> Award <\/strong>for remarkable social awareness funded by the National Broadcasting Council \u2013 Diana Kad\u0142ubowska <\/strong>and Krzysztof Kad\u0142ubowski <\/strong>for Today, Tomorrow\u2026 Yesterday<\/strong> (Poland)<\/p>\r\n

The Award for the best short and documentary films<\/strong> producer in Poland<\/strong> funded by the Polish Producers Alliance (KIPA) \u2013 Piotr Szczepanowicz <\/strong>and Grzegorz Wac\u0142awek<\/strong> (Animoon)<\/strong> for the films Acid Rain <\/strong>and The Hunt<\/strong> (Poland)<\/p>\r\n

Best Cinematography Award under the patronage of The Polish Society of Cinematographers<\/strong> funded by Coloroffon Film and Naima Film \u2013 Tomasz Wierzbicki<\/strong> for the film Bitten <\/strong>(Poland)<\/p>\r\n

Having watched all the competitive films, the Student Jury consisting of Dominika D\u0105bek, Agata Grudzie\u0144, Natalia Klejdysz, J\u0119drzej Ko\u015bci\u0144ski, Ma\u0142gorzata M\u0105czko, Marta P\u0119cak, Maja Sanders, Viiktoria Semenska, Bartek Tesarz, Wojciech Tutaj, Iga W\u00f3jtowicz, Ma\u0142gorzata Zag\u00f3rska, Dorota \u017bak has decided to award film Once Aurora<\/strong> (Norway) directed by Stian Servoss and Benjamin Langeland<\/strong><\/p>\r\n

The student jury decided to award the prize to the film, which creates an intimate portrait of a young artist struggling with herself and the surrounding world for her own identity in the rhythm of synthpop in an original way.<\/em><\/p>\r\n
