As a cinematographer he worked on various documentary films, e.g. \u201cIcon\u201d (dir. Wojciech Kasperski), Oscar-nominated \u201cJoanna\u201d (dir. Aneta Kopacz) and \u201cPaparazzi\u201d (dir. Piotr Berna\u015b). Earlier he shot \u201cDovlatov\u201d (dir. Aleksiej German Jr.), which premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival this year and \u201cThe Here After\u201d (dir. He is also the director of Ethno Pictures, a nonprofit film company that produces and distributes documentary films.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"card-body\">\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col\">\n<h3>Eva Mulvad<\/h3>\n<h5>\u00a0<\/h5>\n<h6>Denmark<\/h6>\n<div>\n<p>Documentary filmmaker. Born in 1972 in Denmark. She graduated from the National Film School of Denmark in 2001. From here she embarked on her career starting by creating films intended for television, winning the Nordivision Award for Best Documentary in 2005 for her poetic portrait of aging \u201cThe Last Dance\u201d. Mulvad got her breakthrough in 2006 with \u201cEnemies of Happiness\u201d, which won IDFA Amsterdam\u2019s Silver Wolf Award and the World Cinema Jury Prize at Sundance.<\/p>\n<p>In 2011 Mulvad received the prestigious Roos Award for her entire filmic oeuvre. Other awards include the Golden Mermaid from WIFT (Women in Film and TV) given to young talents in filmmaking and Steen Baadsgaards Pris, given to a young documentary filmmakers. Her film \u201cA Modern Man\u201d (2017) is part of this year\u2019s \u201cFocus on Denmark\u201d section.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"card-body\">\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col\">\n<h3>Martin Horyna<\/h3>\n<h5>\u00a0<\/h5>\n<h6>Czech Republic<\/h6>\n<div>\n<p>Programmer and film critic, started his university studies in the field of theoretical physics. Since 2011 he has been working for the Karlovy Vary IFF, where at present he programs documentaries from all around the world and fiction films from the Latin America and South\/Southeast Asia. Three years later he joined the programming team of the Prague Short Film Festival. His experience as film journalist includes co-founding iNDiEFiLM.cz, a Czech website specialized in independent and auteur cinema, and writing festival reports, reviews and other journal articles for various Czech film magazines or dailies. He is a member of International Documentary Association, Slovak Audiovisual Fund\u2019s expert committee, and FIPRESCI, and has worked as a script consultant on several documentary films. Nominated for Academy Award for \u201cCorpus Christi\u201d (2019) which won over 40 awards at more than 70 festivals. His films were presented and won numerous awards on world\u2019s most renowned film festivals including Cannes, Berlin, Rotterdam, Toronto, Palm Springs, AFI, Chicago, Rotterdam and Busan and gathered over 5 millions of viewers in Polish cinemas. His work covers a broad spectrum ranging from a feature film blockbuster, independent movies, tv series, documentaries, music videos, commercials to live multimedia spectacle. He studied film directing at the Lodz Film School where now he is a lecturer. He is also the Polish Film Institute expert.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"card-body\">\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col\">\n<h3>Marko \u0160kop<\/h3>\n<h5>\u00a0<\/h5>\n<h6>Slovakia<\/h6>\n<div>\n<p>Director and writer, born in 1974 in Pre\u0161ov, Slovakia. He studied journalism at Comenius University and documentary film directing at Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava. He gained his PhD from the Faculty of Philosophy at Comenius University. Director of full-length documentary films \u201cOther Worlds\u201d (2006) and \u201cOsadn\u00e9\u201d (2009), both awarded at Karlovy Vary IFF. He produced documentary film \u201cBlind Loves\u201d (2009) by Juraj Lehotsky, which was awarded in the frame of the Quinzaine des Realisateurs in Cannes. His fiction feature debut \u201cEva Nov\u00e1\u201d (2015) was awarded the FIPRESCI Prize at Toronto IFF. His second fiction feature \u201cLet There Be Light\u201d (2019) received 2 awards at Karlovy Vary IFF.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"card-body\">\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col\">\n<h3>Dekel Berenson<\/h3>\n<h5>\u00a0<\/h5>\n<h6>United Kingdom<\/h6>\n<div>\n<p>Director, writer, activist. Drawing inspiration from traveling to more than sixty countries, Dekel explores real-world social and humanitarian issues. His short film, \u201cAshmina\u201d (2018) won numerous prizes, including Best Short Film award at the 59th Krakow Film Festival and Best Live Action Short at the Jerusalem Film Festival. His next short film, \u201cAnna\u201d (2019), premiered as Official Selection in Competition at the Cannes Film Festival and won the Best British Short Film award at the BIFA awards. He\u2019s currently working on his first feature, \u201cAdva\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"card-body\">\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col\">\n<h3>Paola Orli\u0107<\/h3>\n<h5>\u00a0<\/h5>\n<h6>Croatia<\/h6>\n<div>\n<p>Producer of the World Festival of Animated Film Animafest Zagreb, art historian and independent curator. She graduated with a degree in art history and philosophy from the University of Zagreb and from the College of Art at Ohio University. After returning to Croatia, she continued working as a freelancer on cultural and media projects and as an associate at several prominent film festivals in Croatia. She is also an independent curator and lecturer. She wrote, edited and published several art monographs and collaborates with FoAM laboratory in Brussels on the long-term project called PARN (Physical and Alternate Reality Narratives).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"card-body\">\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col\">\n<h3>Csilla Kato<\/h3>\n<h5>\u00a0<\/h5>\n<h6>Romania<\/h6>\n<div>\n<p>Programmer, artistic director at Astra Film Festival. For several editions she has been coordinating the programming department of the festival, including Astra Film Junior and DocumentaryTank @AFF. She has served in international film festival juries and was appointed as an expert in various international industry programmes in documentary film festivals across Europe and beyond. Based in New York, born and raised in Tokyo. He studied Film\/TV at the New York University and produced various media projects from theatrical films to branded content. He served as co-producer for Sofia Coppola\u2019s Oscar-winning \u201cLost in Translation\u201d (2013). Thereafter, he began directing documentary projects which often involved music and the arts, including a collaboration with Eric Clapton titled \u201cEric Clapton: Sessions for Robert J.\u201d (2004). His more recent documentary film \u201cRyuichi Sakamoto: Coda\u201d (2017) premiered at the Venice Film Festival and \u201cRyuichi Sakamoto: async at the Park Avenue Armory\u201d (2018) premiered at the Berlin Film Festival. \u201cCoda\u201d has garnered critical acclaim as well as awards all around the world, including the Golden Heynal for the Best Film in DocFilmMusic Competition at the 58th Krakow Film Festival.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"card-body\">\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col\">\n<h3>Rachel Leah Jones<\/h3>\n<h5>\u00a0<\/h5>\n<h6>USA\/ Israel<\/h6>\n<div>\n<p><span lang=\"en-GB\">Documentary film director and film producer. She was born in California in 1970 and grew up between Berkeley and Tel Aviv. She obtained her BA in gender Studies and MFA in Documentary Media. Her films, shown at many festivals and by television (,,500 Dunam on the Moon\u201d (2002), ,,Ashkenaz\u201d (2007), ,,Targeted Citizen\u201d (2010), ,,Gypsy Davy\u201d (2012), ,,Advocate\u201d (2019)) are politically involved and often focus on the Palestinian-Israeli problem. Along with working on her own films Rachel also cooperates with other artists, e.g. on the award-winning production \u201cWall\u201d (2004, dir. Simone Bitton). Her co-directed with Philippe Bellaiche film \u201cAdvocate\u201d won the top prize of the International Documentary Film Competition at the 59th Krakow Film Festival.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"card-body\">\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col\">\n<h3>Leszek Mo\u017cd\u017cer<\/h3>\n<h5>\u00a0<\/h5>\n<h6>Poland<\/h6>\n<div>\n<p>Jazz pianist, music producer and film music composer. Born in 1971 in Gdansk. He started playing the piano at the age of five. In 1996 he graduated from The Stanis\u0142aw Moniuszko Academy of Music in Gdansk. Jazz cought his attention during the senior year at high school. Mo\u017cd\u017cer gained experience in clarinettist Emil Kowalski\u2019s band and had his first practice with the band Mi\u0142o\u015b\u0107 on the 20th birthday. Early in in his musical career, he was also a member of Zbigniew Namys\u0142owski quartet. He has played with other leading Polish jazzmen and acclaimed international musicians. On many occasions he recorded film music with Zbigniew Preisner and also regularly works with Jan A.P. Kaczmarek (their collaboration includes the Oscar-winning soundtrack to \u201cFinding Neverland\u201d). For music score to \u201cIcarus. The Legend of Mietek Kosz\u201d (2019) he won award at Gdynia Film Festival and also received the Polish Film Award.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h2 id=\"National-Competition\" class=\"my-4 pt-5 dividerstyled\">National Competition<\/h2>\n<div class=\"card-body\">\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col\">\n<h3>Magdalena \u0141azarkiewicz<\/h3>\n<h5>Chairperson<\/h5>\n<h6>Poland<\/h6>\n<div>\n<p>Director, screenwriter. She studied Culture Studies at the University of Wroc\u0142aw. In the years 1977-1978 she was the literary manager of Stefan Jaracz Theatre in Olsztyn. In 1982 she graduated from the Radio and Television Faculty of the University of Silesia in Katowice. In the 2005\/2006 season she was the artistic director of Teatr Nowy PRAGA. Since 2006 she has been lecturing at the Warsaw Film School, since 2012 \u2013 at the Multi Art Academy in Cracow. She makes documentary and feature films and numerous theatre plays and Television Theatre plays, as well. Her many awarded films include, among others, \u201cInto Deep Water\u201d series (2012-2013), \u201cDrugi brzeg\u201d (1997), \u201cWhite Marriage\u201d (1992), \u201cDeparture\u201d (1991), \u201cThe Last Schoolbell\u201d (1989) , \u201cBy Touch\u201d (1985).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"card-body\">\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col\">\n<h3>Joanna Szyma\u0144ska<\/h3>\n<h5>\u00a0<\/h5>\n<h6>Poland<\/h6>\n<div>\n<p>Producer, activist. She was involved in development and production of numerous fiction and documentary projects, including international co-productions. For producing a short fiction \u201cMilky Brother\u201d (dir. Vahram Mkhitaryan) she was awarded Best Producer of Shorts and Documentaries Award at 54th Krakow Film Festival. Berlinale Talent Campus (2011) and EAVE Producers Workshop alumnus. Head of Studies at script development programme \u201cAtelier Scenariuszowe\u201d. As a documentary consultant, she co-operates with HBO Poland. Actively involved in her local film industry \u2013 since 2017 she is a member of the Polish Film Institute Board and a Board Member of the European Film Academy. Her recent coproduction \u201cAdventures of a Mathematician\u201d (2020) premiered in competition at Palm Springs.\u00a0 <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"card-body\">\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col\">\n<h3>Elwira Niewiera<\/h3>\n<h5>\u00a0<\/h5>\n<h6>Poland<\/h6>\n<div>\n<p><span lang=\"en-GB\">Director, scriptwriter. Born in 1976. She studied acting at the European Theater Institut Berlin and the Academy for Theater Practices Gardzenice (Poland). The author of renowned and awarded documentary films: \u201cDomino Effect\u201c (directed with Piotr Roso\u0142owski) was shown worldwide at more than 50 festivals and won many awards, among them: the Golden Horn for the Best Film of the International Competition and the Golden Hobby-Horse for the best Polish film at the 54th Krakow Film Festival and the Golden Dove for the best film in the German Competition at DOK Leipzig. Her latest film \u201cThe Prince and the Dybbuk\u201d (directed with Piotr Roso\u0142owski) was awarded at Venice Film Festival in 2017 and won the Polish Academy Award for Best Documentary in 2019.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"card-body\">\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col\">\n<h3>Izabela Pluci\u0144ska<\/h3>\n<h5>\u00a0<\/h5>\n<h6>Poland<\/h6>\n<div>\n<p>Animated film director. Born in Poland, she is now living in Germany. She is a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Lodz and Film Animation of the Cinematography Department at the Lodz Film School, where she also completed her Ph.D. in the field of animation. She specialises in clay animation. Her filmography includes \u201cJam Session\u201d (2005) \u2013 a winner of the Silver Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival, \u201cEsterhazy\u201d (2009) and \u201cSexy Laundry\u201d (2015). Currently she is a teacher at the Academy of Art in Szczecin, in the same time she is working at her own production company, ClayTraces. Her film \u201cPortrait of Suzanne\u201d (2019) won Golden Dragon for the Best Film in International Short Film Competition at the 59th Krakow Film Festival. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"card-body\">\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col\">\n<h3>Pawe\u0142 Dyllus<\/h3>\n<h5>\u00a0<\/h5>\n<h6>Poland<\/h6>\n<div>\n<p>Cinematographer and director. In 2020 he was awarded for Best Cinematography by the Polish Society of Cinematographers (PSC) for his directorial debut \u201cWeirdy\u201d about Polish photographer and director Bogdan Dziworski and in 2017 he won the same award for his work in \u201cJestem morderc\u0105\u201d by Maciej Pieprzyca, for which he also received a nomination from the Polish Film Academy. He was nominated for the Golden Frog Award at Camerimage 2013 for \u201cLife Feels Good\u201d, also directed by Pieprzyca. His other DOP credits include: \u201cThe Atlas\u201d directed by Maciej Kawalski (awarded the Silver Hobby-Horse in Polish Competition at 58th Krakow Film Festival), \u201cSuper Unit\u201d (dir.
