He was born in 1973 in Ostrowiec \u015awi\u0119tokrzyski. A graduate of the Cinematography Department at the Film School in \u0141\u00f3d\u017a, he has worked as a cinematographer on over 20 documentaries and feature-length fiction films. Staro\u0144 is a member of the European Film Academy and the Polish Society of Cinematographers (PSC), an association of feature filmmakers. He made his documentary debut with The Siberian Lesson (1998), which was awarded in Amsterdam (IDFA) and Krak\u00f3w, among others. He received the Silver Bear Award at the 2011 Berlinale for his photography to El Premio (dir. Paula Markovitch). His latest work, The Argentinean Lesson, won the Golden Horn in Krak\u00f3w in 2011.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Marc Isaacs<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">His achievements include over 10 creative documentaries for the BBC and Channel 4. His films have won Grierson, Royal Television Society and BAFTA awards as well as numerous international film festival prizes. In 2008 he received an honorary doctorate from the University of East London for his documentary work. He is a guest tutor at the London Film School, the National Film and Television School and Royal Holloway University.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Pau Montagud<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">Founder and artistic director of the International Documentary Film Festival of Mexico City (DocsDF). A Spanish philologist, he earned a degree in Journalism from the Miguel Hern\u00e1ndez University of Elche and participated in the documentary film workshop at the International Film and Television School (EICTV) in Cuba . Montagud has worked as a film and theatre set designer, collaborated with online and traditional media and taught Journalism and Audiovisual Communication at the Monterey Institute of Technology. He serves as a film festival jury member, both in Mexico and abroad.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Marat Sargsyan<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">Born in 1978 in Kirovakan (today\u2019s Vanadzor) in Armenia. At the early age of 13 he started working as an editor and cinematographer for the local TV station. In 1994 he moved to Lithuania where he continued his work on television projects and made many award winning music videos. In 2005 he started studying at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, where he earned his Master\u2019s Degree in Television and Film Directing in 2011. His films have been screened and awarded all over the world.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Krzysztof Kwiatkowski<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">Graduate of Sociology at the University of Warsaw. Cultural journalists of a weekly magazine\u00a0\u201eWprost,\u201d he also cooperates with titles such as\u00a0\u201eNewsweek Polska,\u201d \u201eWysokie Obcasy,\u201d \u201eGazeta Wyborcza,\u201d \u201eDziennik,\u201d \u201ePerspektywy.\u201d Member of the International Federation of Film Critics FIPRESCI. He conducted interviews with the greatest cinema personalities, among others,\u00a0Quentin Tarantino, Pedro Almodovar, Ken Loach, Woody Allen, Michael Haneke, Michael Douglas, Meryl Streep, Leonardo DiCaprio.\u00a0He reports from the most important film festivals in Europe \u2013 from Cannes to Karlove Vary.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">MUSIC COMPETITION DocFilmMusic<\/span><\/strong><\/div>\n<div>\n<strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Jan Kanty Pawlu\u015bkiewicz &#8211; chairman<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">Born in 1942 in Nowy Targ, one of the most outstanding Polish contemporary composers. He composes music from a broad range of styles, including classical, theatre and film scores as well as musicals and songs. For almost half a century he has been associated with Krakow\u2019s artistic circles. He rose to fame as the co-founder of Anawa, a cabaret which turned into a band and became one of the most interesting music phenomena in the 20th century Poland. He has written scores for several dozen films, collaborating with Tomasz Zygad\u0142o, Feliks Falk and Agnieszka Holland, among others. In 2013, his music for the film Papusza directed by Joanna Kos-Krauze and Krzysztof Krauze won the Best Music Score Award at the 38th Film Festival in Gdynia.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Dick Fontaine\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">Half a century of his artistic activity has brought over 40 films, both for television and the independent media, made by this UK director. A founder member of World in Action, an innovative current affairs programme, Dick Fontaine was the first to introduce the techniques of Direct Cinema to television. Many of his films focused on the stars and phenomena of popular culture and also featured great jazz artists such as Ornette Coleman, Art Blakey or Betty Carter. His portrait of a jazz giant, Sonny Rollins \u2013 Beyond the Notes, was nominated for the 2012 Grierson Award. He also works as a tutor and mentor and since 1995 has been the head of the Documentary Department at the National Film and Television School in the UK.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/div>\n<div><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Peter Rippl\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">Peter Rippl was born in 1961. He studied Visual Communication, Screenwriting and Sculpture. An author of scripts for television, in 2005 he started developing his own film projects. His work includes, among others, musical documents such as Leningrad \u2013 the Man Who Sings (2008), No trust. No fear. Ask nothing (2012) and Good Friday (2014, in post-production). Rippl\u2019s films have been screened at numerous festivals across Europe. Asked to comment on Leningrad \u2013 the Man Who Sings, he said he was inspired \u2018to catch the live spirit of their concerts\u2019.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">SHORT FILM COMPETITION<\/span><\/strong><\/div>\n<div>\n<strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Wojciech Marczewski \u2013 chairman<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">Film director and screenwriter, graduate of the Film School in \u0141\u00f3d\u017a. He is a laureate of the Berlinale\u2019s Silver Bear and the Golden and Silver Lions awarded in Gda\u0144sk and Gdynia. His achievements include such films as Nightmares (1978), Shivers (1981), Escape from the \u2018Liberty\u2019 Cinems (1990) and Weiser (2000). A teacher and lecturer of the Film School in \u0141\u00f3d\u017a, he initiated the \u201830 Minutes\u2019 programme. Marczewski is a co-founder, deputy head and programming director of the Wajda School Foundation and teachers at the Wajda Studio. He has worked as a guest tutor of film directing in Germany, Denmark, Switzerland and the Netherlands and as a head of Directing at the National Film and Television School in the UK. He is a chairman of the Council of the Polish Film Institute.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Cinzia Spironello\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">Spironello is the founder of Other Voices, the only Italian distribution company so far focusing on national and foreign short films. After obtaining a diploma in Cultural Communication she worked for a few years in Spain. In 2009-2011 she was involved in the organization of the Mecal Film Festival in Barcelona. At the same time she selected short films for the Vinatage Festival in Padua. In 2011 she moved to Valencia taking the position of a trading director at Some Like it Short. Spironello takes part in international film events as a participant of fairs and panels as well as a jury member.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/div>\n<div><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Giannalberto Bendazzi\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">A professor of Nanyang Polytechnic in Singapore, Griffith University in Brisbane and Universit\u00e0 degli Studi in Milan, Giannalberto Bendazzi, who was born in Ravenna in 1946, has been a close follower of the history of animation for over four decades. Bendazzi is a founding member of the Society for Animation Studies with a nine-year tenure in the Council of Directors of ASIFA (Association Internationale du Film d\u2019Animation). He is the author of such reputable publications as Cartoons and Alexeieff \u2013 Itinerary of a Master, published in several languages.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Katrine Kiilgaard\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">Managing director of Filmkontakt Nord and head of Nordisk Panorama, an annual festival and industry platform for the Nordic short and documentary film industry, which is the biggest project developed by Filmkontakt Nord. She has been associated with th<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\"> is organisation since 2000 and can apply her experience gained in the international film market as a film selector and member of several festival juries as well as a lecturer and moderator. With a degree in Film, Contemporary Culture and Communication, Katrine Kiilgaard has been active in various segments of the film industry since 1994.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Illia Gladshtein\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">Specialist in film festival programming and urban and cultural activist from Kiev. He is a co-founder and curator of the \u201886\u2019 International Film and Urban Festival (2014) organised in Slavutych, a town whose history is linked with the tragic story of Chernobyl. Since 2009 he has worked as a coordinator of the Short Film Competition at Kiev\u2019s Molodist International Film Festival. His ambition is to promote international cinema among a wider audience in Ukraine. With a medical diploma, he believes that films may be a powerful device used to diagnose and treat society.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">NATIONAL COMPETITION<\/span><\/strong><\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Jerzy \u015aladkowski &#8211; chair<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">Born in 1945 in Radom. A graduate of the University of Toru\u0144 (Classical Philology) and the University of Warsaw (Photography, Radio and Television), he has worked as a reporter, television producer and director since 1972. After he emigrated to Sweden in 1982, he started directing documentary films. He has collaborated with Nordic television stations, TVP and the Polish Film Institute as well as ZDF and ARTE and made about 40 films, some in the most remote corners of the world. Recurring themes in his work include humans facing dramatic change or confronting the hostile environment. He is a laureate of the IDA Award for Swedish Tango, the Felix Award for Vendetta and the Golden Dove for The Vodka Factory.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Irena Strza\u0142kowska<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">Deputy director of the \u2018Tor\u2019 Film Studio responsible for sales and distribution. She is a member of the Experts\u2019 Committee for the Creative Europe Programme as well as a Polish representative of the European Film Fund EURIMAGES and serves as an expert for the Polish Film Institute and Regional Film Funds. Active in cinematography since 1972, she has worked for, among others, the Office of the Polish Cinematography Committee as a deputy director responsible for the promotion of Polish films abroad. Since 1999 she has been a member of the Polish Film Academy and since 2001 \u2013 the European Film Academy.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/div>\n<div><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Zbigniew \u017bmudzki\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">Film producer, CEO of Se-ma-for Produkcja Filmowa, a production company, and head of the Se-ma-for Film Foundation. He has a degree in Economics and a diploma of the Postgraduate Course in Film Production Organisation at the Film School in \u0141\u00f3d\u017a. He started his work in cinematography in 1976 and in 1993 became involved in animation. \u017bmudzki stands behind the creation of the Se-ma-for Animation Museum and the Se-ma-for Film Festival. His productions include Oscar-winning Peter and the Wolf (dir. Suzie Templeton). He teaches at the Department of Film Production Organisation of the Film School in \u0141\u00f3d\u017a and is a co-author of a guide to frame-by-frame animation entitled Almanach m\u0142odego animatora.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Filip Dzier\u017cawski\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">Director and screenwriter. He is a graduate of the Film Directing Department at the Film and Television Academy in Warsaw and Social Psychology at the Warsaw School of Social Psychology. He has written and directed Fanatics (2011), a documentary film about the supporters of Legia football club, and the television culture programme \u2018\u0141ossskot\u2019. He makes music videos and television commercials. In 2013, Dzier\u017cawski\u2019s directing debut Love was awarded with the Golden Hobby-Horse.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Piotr Lenar<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">Cinematographer born in 1958 in Krakow. A graduate of the Cinematography Department of the Film School in \u0141\u00f3d\u017a, he stands behind the photography for Jan Jakub Kolski\u2019s famous film Johnnie Waterman (1993). In the early 1990s he went to Germany, where he collaborated with Urs Odermatt and Thomas Jahn. He has worked on various productions in Poland, including Milion dolar\u00f3w, Pitbull, Magda M., Kryminalni.
