She has created an\u00a0intimate and raw portrait of\u00a0an election, and ultimately a\u00a0portrait of\u00a0our relationship to\u00a0power. This story is\u00a0told with rare courage, and connects with our innate human desire to\u00a0think freely, to\u00a0speak freely, and to\u00a0live with dignity.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>THE SILVER HORN<\/strong> for the director of\u00a0the best medium-length documentary film \u2013 <strong>Massimo Coppola\u00a0for the film ROMEO AND JULIET (Italy).\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For a\u00a0beautiful, universal film that touches on\u00a0important issues in\u00a0a light and intelligent way. An\u00a0unobtrusive story about the birth of\u00a0feelings, and about the past corroding the present, reminding us\u00a0of old wounds that do\u00a0not heal. About the complex nature of\u00a0conflicts, which still divide people.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>THE SILVER HORN<\/strong> for the director of\u00a0the best feature-length documentary film \u2013 <strong>Pier-Luc Latulippe and Martin Fournier for the film MANOR (Canada).<\/strong><br \/>\n The filmmakers take us\u00a0on a\u00a0journey into a\u00a0Canadian manor that houses a\u00a0community of\u00a034 most original characters. As\u00a0we discover the often surprising and always original characteristics of\u00a0a handful of\u00a0them, our compassion grows with every scene. We\u00a0slowly understand that we\u00a0are witnessing the last months of\u00a0their lives in\u00a0this friendly univers, before its planned destruction turns all of\u00a0them into homeless individuals.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Award for the best cinematography funded by\u00a0the HBO Polska Kristina Sereikait\u0117 for the film DEAD EARS (dir. Linas Mikuta)<br \/>\n For a\u00a0work that captures the delicate balance involving a\u00a0father and son and Nature, revealing with intelligence and sensitivity a\u00a0parallel univers that stays with us\u00a0well after the screening.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><u><strong>The FIPRESCI (International Federation of\u00a0Film Critics) Jury<\/strong> <\/u>consisting of: Ingrid Beerbaum (Germany), Luminita Boerescu (Romania), Janusz Ko\u0142odziej (Poland) has decided to\u00a0award the International Film Critics Prize to:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Wojciech Kasperski for the film ICON (Poland).<\/strong><br \/>\n For reflection on\u00a0the human soul, especially on\u00a0the souls of\u00a0women of\u00a0all age in\u00a0an insane asylum in\u00a0the middle of\u00a0nowhere. Depicting the life of\u00a0these women the film unfolds an\u00a0intriging and irresistible power with its unique artistic appearance in\u00a0cinematography and editing. It\u00a0sensitively approaches his characters and shows their rarely seen reality not only telling the ugly truth by\u00a0that but also showing hope and just humane understanding.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>INTERNATIONAL SHORT FILM COMPETITION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Having watched all the competition films, the International <u>Short Film Competition Jury <\/u>consisting of: Ewa Puszczy\u0144ska \u2013 Chairperson (Poland), Enrico Vannucci (Italy), Nancy Phelps (Belgium), Aleksandra Maciuszek (Poland), Benjamin Cleary (Ireland), has decided to\u00a0award the following prizes:\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>GOLDEN DRAGON<\/strong> for the director of\u00a0the best film \u2013 Tamar Kay, for the film <strong>THE MUTE\u2019S HOUSE (Israel).<\/strong><br \/>\n For being a\u00a0political film that depicts the everyday life of\u00a0its characters as\u00a0it is, without taking sides or\u00a0giving any pre-configured explanation instead helping the audience to\u00a0face a\u00a0seemingly never ending conflict between human beings. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>SILVER DRAGON<\/strong> for the director of\u00a0the best documentary film \u2013 <strong>Zofia Kowalewska for the film CLOSE TIES (Poland).<\/strong><br \/>\n For a\u00a0very warm and humorous film, a\u00a0touching and precise reflection on\u00a0love, attachment and forgiveness. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>SILVER DRAGON<\/strong> for the directors of\u00a0the best animated film \u2013 <strong>Sofie Kampmark for the film TSUNAMI (Denmark).<\/strong><br \/>\n For representing the true spirit of\u00a0carrying on\u00a0through great adversity and for the ending gives hope for the future.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>SILVER DRAGON<\/strong> for the director of\u00a0the best short fiction film \u2013 <strong>Damien O\u2019Donnell for the film HOW WAS YOUR DAY? (Ireland).<\/strong><br \/>\n For a\u00a0beautifully paced, heartbreaking film, which skillfully and bravely handled an\u00a0important issue rarely depicted on\u00a0screen.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>PRIX EFA KRAKOW 2016<\/u><\/strong> for the Best European Film (nomination to\u00a0the European Film Award in\u00a0the short film category) \u2013 Maite Alberdi, Giedr\u0117 \u017dickyt\u0117 for the film I\u2019M NOT FROM HERE (Chile, Lithuania, Denmark), a\u00a0film that although set far from Europe humanly depicts the life, memories and dignity of\u00a0a woman that nevertheless ill still embodies the pride and connection to\u00a0her homeland, culture and language perfectly representing the European Union motto In\u00a0Varietate Concordia \u2013 Unity in\u00a0Diversity.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>The International Federation of\u00a0Film Societies (FICC) Jury <\/u><\/strong>consisting of: Alba Cruells Roger (Spain), Michael Sch\u00e4fer (Germany), Miko\u0142aj Torz (Poland) has decided to\u00a0grant the Don Quixote Award to\u00a0the film THE OPENING directed by\u00a0Piotr Adamski (Poland) for starting a\u00a0discussion about the value of\u00a0dignity and asking where the thin red line between art, cynicism and voyeurism is\u00a0because provoking a\u00a0discussion and asking serious question is\u00a0a key value for the film societies. The Special Mention went to\u00a0the film: THE MUTE\u2019S HOUSE directed by\u00a0Tamar Kay (Israel) for using the perspective of\u00a0a cheerful boy to\u00a0show the absurdity of\u00a0an endless conflict.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>INTERNATIONAL DocFilmMusic COMPETITION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Having watched all the competition films, the <u>International DocFilmMusic Jury<\/u>, consisting of: Michael Lindsay-Hogg \u2013 Chairperson (USA), Johannes Klein (Spain),Elizabeth Radshaw (Canada), has decided to\u00a0award the following prizes:\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>GOLDEN HEYNAL<\/strong> for the director of\u00a0the best film \u2013 <strong>Gitta Gsell for the film MELODY OF\u00a0NOISE (Switzerland).<\/strong><br \/>\n For being beautiful to\u00a0look at, whether the image is\u00a0an industrial one or\u00a0deep in\u00a0the country, its incredible accoustic track, obviously done with utmost skill and care and a\u00a0story of\u00a0a passionate and eccentric group of\u00a0people who make sound out of\u00a0noise, with instruments fashioned out of\u00a0rubbish or\u00a0with computerso r\u00a0vegetables.
