Two\nfilms presented at the 59<\/strong>th<\/strong><\/sup>\nKrakow Film Festival are included on the prestigious list of twelve\ndocumentary films with a chance to be nominated for the European Film\nAwards. One of them is the award-winning “Advocate,”\nrecommended by the festival, directed by<\/strong>\nRachel\nLeah Jones and Philippe Bellaiche. And the second one is the film\npresented in the non-competing section, “Honeyland” by <\/strong>\nLjubomir\nStefanov and Tamara Kotevska.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Krakow Film Festival turned out to be extremely lucky for “Advocate.”<\/a><\/strong> In addition to the recommendation for the European Film Awards, the documentary by Rachel Leah Jones and Philippe Bellaiche won in the International Documentary Film Competition.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\nprotagonist of “Advocate”\n<\/strong>is\nLea Tsemel who for fifty years has been defending the cases which are\nconsidered lost. This Israeli human rights activist became famous\nmainly as the defence counsel of Palestinians, also ones accused of\nterrorism. Being an ally for some, she immediately became a deadly\nenemy for others. From rich archives and current materials, a\nfascinating portrait of a steadfast woman emerges. From her husband’s\nand her children’s personal confessions we can learn what does it\nmean to live together with someone who is ready to take the greatest\nrisks in the name of justice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
