Kids & Youth series. Cinema for young people at the 60th Krakow Film Festival<\/b><\/p>\n

As in previous years, the program of the Krakow Film Festival does not lack proposals for younger viewers. Among them, films for toddlers and teenagers and virtual workshops. Thanks to the support of the festival partner, PGE Energia Ciep\u0142a, all events of the Kids & Youth<\/a> series are free.<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n

6+<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two screenings await the youngest. The Polish-Latvian animation “Jacob, Mimmi and Talking Dogs” directed by Edmunds Jansons is a touching story about a fight of children and dogs for a beloved park and a lost friend. The full-length plot of “Sonia” (dir. Catti Edfeldt) is, in turn, an adaptation of the book by Pija Lindebaum, which tells about the unusual and somewhat magical adventures of seven-year-old Sonia, who is spending the night away from home with her friend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

10+<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

For slightly older kids – Danish full-length feature film “I’m William” (dir. Jonas Elmer). The title William is an ordinary, well-structured boy who thinks he is unlucky in life. His mother is in the hospital and can’t look after him, so William goes to another town, where he is taken under Uncle Nils’ wings. In a new place, he is accosted by three rascals, and his uncle gets into serious trouble: he has huge debt from a dangerous gangster and he must pay it back immediately. No way to solve this? No! Fate gives the boy tips, you only need to notice them to get lucky. An unusual adventure in a small town, with a bit of gangster thrill and a small-big hero who discovers his strength.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

16+<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the first time, the festival offers such a rich film program for young people. Ewa \u015alusarczyk’s \u201cGrandma’s Day” is a documentary featuring 83-year-old Grandma Krysia, who has learned the secrets of social media. The film is a reflection on interpersonal relationships in times of smartphones and social media. The short documentary “At Grandma’s” (dir. Milena M\u0105dra) is a story about relationships. It shows the story of the closeness of grandmother and granddaughter, despite physical limitations. An elderly woman and a disabled nine-year-old girl lead a seemingly uncomplicated life, finding pleasure in every activity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The heroine of Olga Papacz’s “Her painting” is Alina, who travels between two completely distant worlds every day. The film touches on the subject of body-positivity and shows how different roles we can play, being in different environments. The title heroine of the movie “Julia at the Seaside” (dir. Mariusz Rusi\u0144ski) spends her summer vacation at the sea alone. Using Tinder, she meets various people – some are obtrusive, with others she feels awkward, but maybe among the newly met people there will be someone trustworthy? The creators talk about all this with a mixture of tenderness and irony.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the short documentary “Lola” (dir. Zuzanna Wo\u017aniczka) we meet Karol, who identifies with the female version of himself as a drag queen. The hero is at the beginning of his new path. He intensely tries to enter a new world to appear on stage and be able to be himself. The heroine of the film “Whispers” by Izabela Zubrycka is a resident of a Podlasie village. She lives close to nature, deals with gardening, herbal medicine, and when night falls, she devotes herself to the ancient practice of whispering. The author looks with sensitivity at the extraordinary world, which is most fully revealed in the quiet murmurs of the heroine’s whispers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

16+ films were created as part of the Film Preschool program under the tutelage of Maciej Cuske, Marcin Sauter and Edyta Wr\u00f3blewska.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Workshops<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

1 June at 13:00 virtual art workshops with Albin Talik, transmedia artist, creator of paper painting technique will be held. How do you make a work of art out of old books, leaflets and newspapers? The answer to this question is COLLAGE! You will only need scissors, some glue and the fun is ready! The event will be broadcast on the festival’s social media. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In cooperation with the Animated Film Studio in Bielsko-Bia\u0142a, we invite you to online animation workshops for children<\/a>. As part of the cycle Secrets of Animation, Roman Baran, a computer graphic designer of the Studio and a leading SFR tour guide, reveals the secrets of the art by which cartoon films are made. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of the second edition of Drawing on the screen; the youngest viewers can see how drawing artists of the Bielsko studio work. In the first part of the series, Andrzej Czaderna, the main animator of SFR, shows how to draw popular household animals<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
