BAKER<\/b> (USA).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt;\">In documentaries about music and musicians, you want a film that showcases talent on both sides of the camera \u2013 that tells a compelling story with cinematic skill. Among the DocFilmMusic competitors, the jury felt the movie that most closely matched this criteria was Beware of Mr. Baker directed by Jay Bulger. In profiling the drummer, Ginger Baker, Bulger has a compelling main character, to be sure. In many ways the story is a clich\u00e9 &#8211; the rock star from the 60s who abused himself and everyone around him. In this case, the film does not try to rehabilitate its subject, to make us love or forgive him. Ginger Baker is a brilliant musician and a complete asshole, and Beware of Mr. Baker shows us both sides clearly.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt;\">Most of all, in keeping with the independent spirit of this festival, we wanted to recognize this achievement by a first-time director who was not even a filmmaker before this movie, but who found a story he wanted to tell and talked his way into doing it. The film has flaws and some of the self-indulgence that can come with a first time filmmaker, but it is also made with confidence, humor, and verve, with stylized touches that illuminate what was already a very wild ride.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b><u><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt;\">INTERNATIONAL DOCUMENTARY COMPETITION\u00a0<\/span><\/u><\/b><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt;\">Having seen all the competition films, the International Documentary Competition Jury consisting of: <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt;\">Sergey Dvortsevoy &#8211; Chairman (Russia), Marion D\u00f6ring (Germany), David Fisher (Israel), Veton Nurkollari (Kosovo), Jerzy Zieli\u0144ski (Poland)\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt;\">has decided to award:<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt;\"><br \/>\n <\/span><b><\/b><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt;\">GOLDEN HORN for the Director of the Best Film: <\/span><\/b><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt;\">for<\/span><b><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt;\">Tora M\u00e5rtens<\/span><\/b><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt;\">,<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt;\"> the director of <b>COLOMBIANOS<\/b> (Sweden, Finland).<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt;\"><br \/>\n <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt;\">With the camera always ready to catch the right moment and the right place, with an intimate yet never embarrassing approach, with a unique access and a lot of respect for the characters, the filmmaker Tora <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt;\">M\u00e5rtens<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt;\"> and cameraman Erik Vallsten follow the protagonists to deliver a universal message of coming to terms with how much family members can care for each other \u2013 and of understanding that we barely have control over our own lives and very limited responsibility towards others.\u00a0Set against the problem of drugs and alcohol addiction, this family drama unfolds, leaving us thinking not only about Pablo, Fernando and their mother but also about ourselves.<br \/>\n <\/span><b><\/b><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt;\">SILVER HORN for the Director of the Best Medium-Length Documentary: <\/span><\/b><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt;\">for <b>Marat Sargsyan<\/b><b>, <\/b>the director of<b> THE FATHER<\/b> (Lithuania).<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt;\"><br \/>\n <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt;\">This portrayal of a controversial man avoids any attempt of judgment on the part of the filmmaker and relies on the impact of the images.<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt;\"><br \/>\n <\/span><b><\/b><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt;\">SILVER HORN<\/span><\/b><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt;\"> <b>for the Director of the Best Feature-Length Documentary: <\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt;\">for <b>Marcel \u0141ozi\u0144ski<\/b>, the director of <b>FATHER AND SON ON A JOURNEY<\/b> and <b>Pawe\u0142 \u0141ozi\u0144ski<\/b>, the director of <b>FATHER AND SON<\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt;\"> (Poland).<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt;\"><br \/>\n <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt;\">Is sharing the same profession between a father and a son a curse or a blessing? And can a film be used to reconcile this and other family matters? Two famous filmmakers, a father and a son, embark on a journey in search of answers to these and other questions: their filmmaking skills, the tool in their hands and the road in front of them, a source of inspiration. The author skillfully uses a private story to show the difficult situation of refugees. The two protagonists of opposite personalities long for paradise \u2013 in this case Mexico- hoping to find a better life. But until then, they have to find a reason for their existence, not realising that everything will start again from the beginning. Great actors and well composed cinemascope images tell us this minimalist ic though surprising poem, which is a mirror of our own existence and its meaning.\u00a0<\/div>\n<div style=\"line-height: normal;\">\u00a0<\/div>\n<div style=\"line-height: normal;\"><b>Special Mention<\/b> goes to <b>Anne Zohra Berrached<\/b> for the film <b>SAINT &amp; WHORE<\/b> (Germany).<\/div>\n<div style=\"line-height: normal;\">We want to honour the courage of the director, Anne Zohra Berrached, but even more her two protagonists for stepping forward and telling us their story, which still remains a controversial issue.\u00a0<\/div>\n<div style=\"line-height: normal;\">\u00a0<\/div>\n<div style=\"line-height: normal;\"><b><u>The Student Jury for Short Film Competition<\/u><\/b> consisting of: Lucyna Adamska, Aleksandra Ko\u017ami\u0144ska, Krzysztof Siwo\u0144\u00a0has decided to award the film <b>ALLAH IS GREAT<\/b> directed by<b> Andrea Ianetta <\/b>(India) for the precision of narration and reminding us that it&#8217;s not always worth to be on time.<br \/>\n <b><u><\/u><\/b><\/div>\n<div style=\"line-height: normal;\">\u00a0<\/div>\n<div style=\"line-height: normal;\"><b><u>NATIONAL COMPETITION<br \/>\n <\/u><\/b><\/div>\n<div style=\"line-height: normal;\">\u00a0<\/div>\n<div style=\"line-height: normal;\">Having watched all the competition films, the National Competition Jury consisting of: Adam Sikora <b>\u2013 <\/b>chairman, Agnieszka Traczewska, Ryszard Ja\u017awi\u0144ski, Jacek Hugo-Bader and Marek Skrobecki has decided to award:\u00a0<\/div>\n<div style=\"line-height: normal;\">\u00a0<\/div>\n<div style=\"line-height: normal;\"><b>GOLDEN HOBBY-HORSE<\/b> for the Director of the Best Film \u2013 <b>Filip Dzier\u017cawski<\/b>, the director of<b> LOVE <\/b>(Poland).<br \/>\n It&#8217;s a very deep, personal and touching portrayal of a generation born and maturing, not only musically, in the beginnings of free Poland. \u00a0<\/div>\n<div style=\"line-height: normal;\">\u00a0<\/div>\n<div style=\"line-height: normal;\"><b>SILVER HOBBY-HORSE <\/b>for the Director of the Best Documentary Film\u2013 <b>Bartosz M.
