The review of the best Polish documentaries is going to visit Krak\u00f3ww, Bochnia, Sucha Beskidzka, and Tarn\u00f3w. Once again, the Krakow Film Foundation organises the event as part of a project co-financed by the City of Krak\u00f3w. The program features five outstanding productions that were shown and awarded at the 63rd<\/sup> Krakow Film Festival. It’s the third time we are sharing what we think were the best films shown during the latest edition of the festival with the audiences in Krak\u00f3w and Lesser Poland’s cinemas. Polish artists do not avert their gaze from the changes in the contemporary world. They look at human weaknesses, their struggles with pain, and accompany them in the search for perfection in art and paradise on Earth. Our program is dominated by female directors. It’s also a sign of the times. \u2013 <\/em>comments Krzysztof Gierat, director of the Krakow Film Festival.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Screenings will be held from August to December 2023. Each month one of the selected titles will be released in cinemas. In Krak\u00f3w, the films will be shown in all art-house cinemas: Kino Pod Baranami, Agrafka, Kika, Paradox, Kij\u00f3w, Mikro, and Sfinks. In Lesser Poland \u2013 in the Marzenie cinema in Tarn\u00f3w, Regis in Bochnia, and in Centrum Kultury i Filmu in Sucha Beskidzka. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The review will open with a screening of the Polish-Romanian documentary No Elephant in the Room<\/em><\/strong> by Clara Kleininger-Wanik, which was awarded at the 63rd Krakow Film Festival. It’s a story of circus performers, who are trying to find their way after the introduction of a new law banning performances with live animals. To aid them, a world-famous circus director comes to Romania from Las Vegas itself. In just a few months, the team has to adapt to his new artistic vision. This will involve learning acrobatic tricks and facing challenges they have not previously encountered. The ambition of the group’s new mentor \u2013 who has worked with, among others, the famous Cirque du Soleil \u2013 is to create the greatest circus show in this part of Europe. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A screening with a guest appearance of the director of the film No Elephant in the Room<\/em><\/strong> will take place on 24 August at 6:30 p.m. at the Agrafka cinema in Krak\u00f3w. The documentary will be shown in the remaining cinemas (with the exception of the Sfinks and Kij\u00f3w cinemas) until 1 September. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the following months, the audience will get the opportunity to watch the double-awarded Early Apex<\/em><\/strong> by Pawe\u0142 Hejbudzki, Agnieszka Iwa\u0144ska’s Golden Heynal winner Ula<\/strong>, followed by Radical Move<\/em><\/strong> by Aniela Gabryel \u2013 honoured with the best producer award \u2013 and the winner of the Golden Hobby-Horse, Ma\u0142gorzata Kozera’s film Faces of Agata<\/em><\/strong>. Premiere screenings will be accompanied by meetings with the creators. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event is organized by the Krakow Film Foundation as part of a project co-financed by the City of Krak\u00f3w.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
