Short animations, documentaries, and fiction films, as well as documentaries over 50 minutes, are in the running for the coveted Hobby-Horses, Dragons, Horns, and Heynal awards. The call for entries for next year’s Krakow Film Festival is now underway, with the selection committee eagerly anticipating submissions from filmmakers worldwide for the festival’s 65<\/b>th<\/b> edition.<\/b><\/h5><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The selection team, led by festival director Krzysztof Gierat, is on the lookout for documentaries (50 minutes and longer) and short films (up to 30 minutes) from across the globe. The submission process for the four competitions is divided into two phases: until 30 November 2024 for films completed before 31 October 2024, and until 31 January 2025 for international films made after 31 October 2024. Polish productions completed after 31 October 2024 have until 15 February 2025 to be submitted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From the pool of entries, approximately 200 titles will be chosen for the festival program. The selected films will be presented across numerous thematic sections and three international competitions: documentary, short film, and the DocFilmMusic contest for music documentaries. The national competition, widely regarded as the premier platform for showcasing the latest domestic productions, rounds out the competitive categories.\r\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Filmmakers stand to win the Golden Hobby-Horse (best National Competition entry), the Golden Dragon (Short Film Competition victor), the Golden Horn (top International Documentary Competition entry), and the Golden Heynal (best music documentary in the DocFilmMusic Competition).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As every year, all competing films will be making their Polish debut at the festival, with many enjoying their world and international premieres on Krakow Film Festival’s prestigious screens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Krakow Film Festival is on the exclusive list of film events qualifying for the Oscars\u00ae in short film categories (fiction, animation, documentary) and feature-length documentary; for the <\/span>European Film Awards<\/span><\/a> in the same categories; and for the BAFTA Awards.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n
