The 57<\/b>th<\/b> Krakow Film Festival started on Sunday evening with a festive gala in the cinema Kij\u00f3w.Centrum, and the screening of the documentary film <\/b>“THE BEKSI\u0143SKIS. A Sound and Picture Album” by Marcin Borchardt<\/b> with a packed auditorium. The official opening ceremony, led by Krzysztof Gierat, the director of the Festival, was attended by Jacek Majchrowski, the Mayor of the City of Krakow, and the representatives of the world of film from all over the world. <\/b><\/p>\n

“From the very beginning, the festival remains our film window to the world. Thanks to it, in Poland, in Krakow, we can keep up-to-date with the development of international film life, constantly staying in touch with the most outstanding achievements of the international documentary and short film,” said the Mayor of the City of Krakow at the opening ceremony, emphasising that “We in Krakow are very proud of our festival. Not only because it is one of the oldest festivals in Europe, but also because it has grown so wonderfully, gaining incredible momentum in recent years.”<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n During 8 days of the festival, the viewers will have a chance to watch, in 4 competitions and 12 non-competing sections, over 200 films from Poland and around the world, the majority of which will be shown in Poland for the first time. The competition films will be evaluated by the international Jury, who appeared in full at the ceremony. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n The screening of the documentary film “THE BEKSI\u0143SKIS. A Sound and Video Album,” which had its international premi\u00e8re at the opening gala of the Festival, was preceded by the meeting with its makers: the director Marcin Borchardt, the producer Dariusz Dikti, the editor Dominik Jagodzi\u0144ski and Magdalena Grzeba\u0142kowska who wrote a book about Beksi\u0144ski family. The audience in Krakow will have a chance to watch this film again on the 31<\/span>st<\/span> of May, 2 p.m. in the cinema ARS and on the 1<\/span>st<\/span> of June, at 11 p.m. in Kino Pod Baranami within the frames of Student Night Film Club.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n
