In the first details of the KFF Industry programme to be revealed, we invite you to a series of unique meetings with outstanding filmmakers \u2013 acclaimed documentary filmmakers from the UK and the US, who will be coming to Krakow this June. The masterclasses will be led by this year\u2019s winner of the Dragon of Dragons Award \u2013 Kim Longinotto \u2013 and the multiple Oscar-nominated American director Jay Rosenblatt. Marc Isaacs will talk about his latest film \u2013 \u201cSynthetic Sincerity\u201d, which will open the Krakow Film Festival.<\/p>\n\n

During the 66th Krakow Film Festival, the KFF Industry section will once again serve as a forum for an intensive exchange of knowledge and experience. The programme will include masterclasses and case studies featuring exceptional documentary filmmakers, who will share their techniques, approach to their subjects and creative process. Each event offers a different perspective on contemporary documentary filmmaking. These events will also be open to the festival audience. <\/p>\n\n

Case Study: Marc Isaacs\u2019 \u2018Synthetic Sincerity\u2019<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n

A meeting with one of the most fascinating contemporary British documentary filmmakers, Marc Isaacs, will offer a chance to take a look behind the scenes of his latest film, ‘Synthetic Sincerity’, which will open this year\u2019s festival. The director is known for his exceptionally close, empathetic approach to his subjects and for creating intimate, personal portraits.<\/p>\n\n

During the case study, Isaacs will talk about the filmmaking process \u2013 from the initial idea, through concept development, to production and editing decisions. Participants will learn about his working method, based on trust, long-term observation and attentive listening to the subjects. This event is particularly valuable for filmmakers developing documentary projects and producers interested in auteur non-fiction cinema.<\/p>\n\n

Master Class: Kim Longinotto<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n

One of the highlights of the programme will be a meeting with Kim Longinotto \u2013 a legend of documentary cinema and this year\u2019s laureate of the Dragon of Dragons Award for her contribution to the development of world documentary cinema. For years, her films have focused on strong female protagonists and addressed social issues, often within cultural contexts rarely depicted in Western cinema.<\/p>\n\n

The masterclass will be an opportunity to discover the director\u2019s unique style \u2013 working without traditional narration, relying on observation, and building the narrative through situations. Longinotto will discuss her philosophy of documentary filmmaking, the ethics of working with subjects, and how to create cinema that is socially engaged yet universal and moving.<\/p>\n\n

The masterclass will also be led by Jay Rosenblatt \u2013 an American director who has been nominated for multiple Oscars, known for his experimental documentary styles and his work with archival footage. His films are personal visual essays that combine emotional depth with formal boldness.<\/p>\n\n

During the session, Rosenblatt will outline his approach to editing as a key narrative tool, discuss his work with archives, and explain how to construct meaning through the juxtaposition of images. This is a particularly valuable opportunity for filmmakers interested in creative documentary and unconventional storytelling.<\/p>\n\n

The masterclass is organised in collaboration with \u2018\u015awietlica Filmowa\u2019 \u2013 an educational project run by the Krakow Festival Office.<\/p>\n\n
