Jakub Piątek

Born in 1985. He graduated from the Łódź Film School. His short film debut, 'Mother' (2009), was screened at over 50 festivals worldwide. His feature debut, 'Prime Time' (2021), premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in the United States and is available to stream on Netflix worldwide. In 2023, his debut feature-length documentary 'Pianoforte' was also presented at Sundance. The film was released in cinemas in the US, the UK, Japan, China, and Poland. It won many awards, including the 2024 Polish Film Award (Orzeł) and the International Emmy Award in the Arts Programming category. He also directs drama series, including 'Pewnego razu na krajowej jedynce' and 'Aniela' for Netflix. He lectures in the Directing Department at the Łódź Film School (Feature Film Directing) and regularly teaches workshops on documentary film at the Institute of Polish Culture at the University of Warsaw.
