Scientist and artist Valentin Riedl returns to the protagonist of his beautiful short film ‘Carlotta's Face’. In this hybrid documentary combining a rational and emotional order, he presents the internal world of a person with a visual perception disturbance - prosopagnosia. The impossible becomes possible, not only thanks to the sensitivity of the director but also of the author of animated sequences - Frédéric Schuld. ‘Lost in Face’ is a poignant portrayal of the artist who, unable to achieve closeness with humans, is looking for it in nature.

He studied medicine in Germany, France and Poland. In 2009 he defended his PhD in Medical Sciences at Technische Universität München (TUM) and in 2012 in Neurology of Systemic Diseases at Ludwig-Maximilians Universität (LMU). For him, filmmaking is as a way to leave the world of scientific data to enter the zone where everything is possible. Today, he is trying to combine two disciplines, science and art, adopting a unique way of storytelling.
