Family in Transition

Israel | 2018 | documentary | 70 min. World stories

Amit feels he is a woman imprisoned in a male body. After coming-out, he finds understanding among the closest family members – his wife supports him in the decision about gender correction. But matters become complicated. Their joint trip to Thailand where Amit undergoes a series of surgeries begins a new chapter in their life together, full of so-far-unknown emotions and unexpected turns of action. The Israeli rabbinic law enters into the story about love and tolerance and the family model they have had so far becomes radically transformed.
