KFF director nominated in the Culture category.
We are pleased to inform you that Krzysztof Gierat, the director of Krakow Film Festival, was nominated for the "Kultura Nauka Media" (Culture, Science, Media) Krakowskie Nagrody Allianz (Krakow Allianz Awards) in the Culture category.
Allianz Polska has been granting Krakow Allianz Awards to honour the most outstanding intellectuals, academics, journalists, as well as organisers of cultural activities and artists from Malopolska region since 2000. The jury of the competition, made up of fifteen respected representatives of Krakow environment who are recognised as authority figures, nominates for the award individuals and institutions whose creative and academic output makes a significant contribution to the development of Krakow, as well as the entire Malopolska region.
Krzysztof Gierat is a film expert, a graduate of Jagiellonian University, and also studied at the Institute of Art of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw. He co-created and ran the Film Art Club "Mikro," Jewish Culture Festival, Film Centre "Graffiti," Krakow Film Foundation and Fundacja Promocji Kina Film Polski (Cinema Promotion Foundation "Polish Film"). He was also the deputy president of Krakow, managing director of Agencja Filmowa Telewizji Polskiej (Film Agency of Polish Television) and general manager in Polish Filmmakers Association. Since 2000 he is the director of Krakow Film Festival.
Other nominees in the Culture category are: Janusz Grzywacz – musician, instrumentalist, composer, arranger and educationalist and Jan Kudyk – jazz musician, trumpeter, the co-founder and leader of the Jazz Band Ball Orchestra, which plays traditional jazz with a little bit of swing, blues and local folk music.
The decision who will get the Nike award in each category will be made by the jury by a secret ballot, and the names of the award-winners will be announced at a festive gala in Juliusz Słowacki Theatre on 26th March.
