The Train Stop
Russia2000documentary25'
Waiting is one of the characteristic motifs in Sergei Loznitsa’s films. In The Waiting Room, the director presents a poetic vision of time suspended in waiting by observing a trivial situation – passengers gathered at the train station. People waiting in the waiting room are tired and sleepy, falling into some kind of lethargy filled with boredom. Rhythmical sounds of the surroundings (including crickets and a buzzing fly) as well as soft, blurred photographs give the feeling of time materialising on the screen.
