Caliu: Nothing else, what else can I do?

Romania2025documentary90'DocFilmMusic Competition

The Romanian village of Clejani was once home to the legendary band Taraf de Haïdouks, known for their exuberant concerts, but also world cinema and friendship with Johnny Depp. After the breakup of the group, violin virtuoso Gheorghe ‘Caliu’ Anghel is trying to return to the glory days with a new lineup and under a different name, although his explosive and domineering personality is not helping him. What unfolds is a full-blooded portrayal of a brilliant artist and a difficult man, composed of colourful memories, far-reaching plans and observations of Romani everyday life.
