Director Rafał Łysak, a winner of the Golden Hobby-Horse for ‘Unconditional Love’, poses the following question: who are the people who want to feature in a documentary? In the recording from the casting, instead of a typical selection process, we can observe surprising reflections of the candidates, for whom the casting itself becomes an excuse for a deeper self-analysis. What really drives them to turn their lives into film material? ‘Casting’ is a unique gallery of personalities who may seem to have nothing in common but all have set themselves a challenge to be noticed – in a film and in life, too.

Graduate of the Acting Department of the Film School in Łódź and the documentary course at the Wajda School. Films have been his passion since childhood and his achievements include a few independent productions, among them "Łysak", an experimental film which has won the main prize of the kiloff Festival in Katowice. "Unconditional Love" is his first professional production. Currently, he is working on his new documentary, "Paweł’s Dream", which participates in this year’s edition of the DOC LAB POLAND programme at the stage of development.
