The Queen and the Smokehouse

Miecia is called the Queen of Łeba. For years, she has been running an iconic fish smokehouse, which is more than just a business for her. Despite her advanced age and hard work in difficult conditions, the protagonist cannot imagine her life without it. We get to know the boss of ‘U Mieci’ when, finally, under the influence of her family and co-workers, she has to take care of herself, too. This warm portrayal of a woman hardened by her life experiences, bursting with energy and bringing people together, does not shy away from bitter undertones. And its backdrop is made of unique Baltic folklore.
