In the Veins

Poland2025documentary29'National Competition

It was intended as a film about Józef Lewartowski – a Jew, communist and an organiser of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising – and the fight to restore the plaque commemorating his deeds. Unexpectedly, the action moves to Paris, where Lewartowski’s great-grandson resides. Joseph is initially sceptical about his heritage, but as he learns more about his grandfather’s activities, he becomes involved in the struggle to commemorate him. From a confrontation with local hostility to the attempts to restore the plaque, Joseph’s energy and determination evoke the spirit of the resistance movement once led by his grandfather.
