When war in Ukraine broke out, his parents sent Vlad and his sister to Poland to ensure their safety. They themselves stayed in the conflict-ridden country. Vlad’s task is to look after his sister, but his thoughts constantly flee to his homeland, especially to his father, who has been drafted into the army. The conversations overheard among other refugees and the naïve questions asked by Poles exacerbate Vlad’s dilemmas, as he must make a decision in the face of longing, a sense of responsibility and remorse.
