Peace to This House

Poland2024animated6'National Competition

Cottage cheese, which drips rhythmically, the Virgin Mary in the background, clucking chickens in cages, chicken skinning – all this creates the unsettling atmosphere of a house where repetitive, cyclical activities play the lead role. In this stop-motion animation, the characters act out scenes from everyday life in a space steeped in routine, silence and fear, where trauma is passed down without a word from generation to generation. The realistic photographs of the characters contrast with the dreamlike atmosphere of the film, and the perverse ending seems to pose the question of whether it is possible to move out of this house.
