The young highlander Jasiek is secretly in love with Hanka, who has just returned to her hometown from the city. Hanka, however, is in love with Andrzej. When a ski competition is held in Zakopane, Jasiek seizes the opportunity to win Hanka's attention. He is in the lead all the way, but on the last stretch he falls and resignedly withdraws from the competition. A few days later, Andrzej and Hanka take a trip to the mountains. They are surprised by a sudden change in the weather and are buried by an avalanche. Jasiek and a team from TOPR rush to the rescue of his beloved. Shot in the beautiful scenery of the Tatra Mountains, the film is the first Polish film to officially represent Poland at the Venice Film Festival, where it won an award for cinematography.Jasiek, a young highlander, is secretly in love with Hanka, but she loves Andrzej.
