Anna
Ukraine2019fiction15'Opowieści ze świata. Świat kobiet (2020)
Somewhere in Eastern Ukraine, in a place without prospects or hope for a change, Anna, who is a middle-aged single mother, decides to give life yet another chance. Under the influence of a radio advert she signs up for a soirée organised by a dating agency that provides matchmaking services for American men and Ukrainian women. Director Dekel Berenson, the laureate of the 59th Krakow Film Festival for his film "Ashmina", once again focuses his camera on female characters and proves his exceptional sense of observation and social streak. Although the story has a bitter flavour, one may find the elements of humour and optimism in it. The characters are portrayed with extraordinary warmth, even tenderness.
