A Tunnel

In a Georgian village hidden in the forest-covered mountains, Stalin’s portraits adorn the walls of the houses, goats wander along the railway tracks and old, decaying fences lead to a closed school. Time has come to a halt there and modernity has only rarely made a stop at the tiny railway station. Can such a place unexpectedly become the centre of a new world? It may be possible, especially with the Chinese coming to Georgia. An international plan to build a gigantic tunnel that will connect China with western Europe is coming into effect. Georgians become part of the project, construction begins and the first serious conflicts arise, including even a strike. Tension mounts, trains arrive and the life in the village changes irrevocably before the eyes of its residents.
