With ethnographic diligence, the black-and-white film explores the history, specifics and variations of the genre, depicting performances in taverns, street rituals and highly professional disputes. The youngest generation also reaches for fandango, performing it in a more modern fashion.

Remedios Malvárez Báez (Huelva, Spain, 1968) is an award-winning Andalusian filmmaker, named Best Andalusian Director by RTVA in 2019. Her debut Alalá (2016) received multiple awards, including Best Feature Documentary at PRIMED Marseille. She later directed Menese (2019), selected at IN-EDIT and SEFF, and Pico Reja (2021), which earned a jury mention at SEFF, was selected for the Goya Awards, and screened at DOK.fest München and MAF.
