Tygodnik Powszechny debate after the screening of ” The Self Portrait”
Can photography esthetise pain and numb our conscience? Or, maybe, thanks to photographs, we are able to develop sympathy for unknown people in faraway countries? Why do we need to look at someone else’s pain? Joanna Pawlik, a visual artist, and Cezary Żechowski, a psychiatrist and a psychotherapist, will take part in the ‘Tygodnik Powszechny’ debate on the documentary ‘Self-Portrait’, dir. by Margreth Olin, Katji Hogset and Espena Wallina, which will be moderated by Monika Ochędowska and Marta Filipiuk-Michniewicz.
