The Last Supper

Poland2019animated13'Retrospektywa Piotra Dumały (2021)

On a night train there are Jesus and 12 apostles. They are sitting over the last supper, just like in Leonardo da Vinci’s painting. Suddenly the picture becomes alive. The jurors of the Animated Film Festival in Poznań awarded Dumała with the Crystal Animusz for the ‘universal language and brilliance in developing narration’. ‘For a few years I have been fascinated by horizontal compositions – a group of men sitting at a table is an interesting composition challenge. The moment when Jesus says “One of you will betray me” is an excellent starting point for a drama’, says the film author. All this happens to the rhythm of an excellent score by Sebastian Ładyżyński.
