Little Black Riding Hood

Poland1983animated5'Retrospektywa Piotra Dumały (2021)

Full of suspense and black humour, this pure nonsense story is a bloody variation on a popular fairy tale about the Little Red Riding Hood. Unlike in the story, the eponymous hero is not very polite this time and, what is more, has a ravenous appetite. Award in Varna (1983), honourable mention in Huesca (1984). This film begins the second, next to animation using plasterboard plates (A Gentle Spirit, Walls, Franz Kafka, Crime and Punishment), theme in the artist’s work. It includes amusing stories with a pinch of surrealism, drawn using a sketchy line (The Nervous Life of The Universe, A Nervous Life, Dr Character Presents).
