Lullaby

Despite the fact that Krzysztof Komeda died a tragic death 50 years ago, films devoted to this artist are still being made. Natasza Ziółkowska-Kurczuk’s documentary Komeda, Komeda… (2012) includes an animated piece which makes a beautiful illustration of the famous lullaby from Rosemary’s Baby by (1968) Roman Polanski. Rosemary’s lullaby, the leading motif in the film whose original title was Sleep Safe and Warm, was hummed by Mia Farrow. The piece composed for the film soon began to live its own life performed, among others, by Tomasz Stańko, Emmanuelle Seigner and Leszek Możdżer. In Dumała’s animation drawings accompany the composer’s piano.
