San Francisco, Sydney and New Korczyn are three locations with links to the Macugowskis. Józef and Stefania Macugowski saved nine Jews. There is no trace left of them in the small town of the Świętokrzyskie region, but the director manages to find those who survived and gives them all a voice. Many years later, the survivors scattered around the world return to the past, share their worst memories and speak bluntly about Polish anti-Semitism. Even those who saved them, the modest and meek Macugowskis, kept silent about their heroism after the war ended. They were afraid of the reaction of their neighbours.
