Laboratory No.2

Iraq, Iran2021documentary16'Międzynarodowy konkurs filmów krótkometrażowych (2022)

In an Iranian town, there is a laboratory, in which there is a peculiar bathtub and a corpse in the bathtub - an irreplaceable object of anatomy study for future doctors. The story of these worn-out corpses is known only to their custodian, an elderly laboratory worker. Edris Abdi and Aware Omer’s documentary is a sensual journey into the world of death. In the background of the first shots, time is measured by dripping water, just like in the famous prologue to Ingmar Bergman’s Persona (1966). In the laboratory, immersed in darkness, there is a thick and irritating smell of formalin.
