At the end of the 19th century, Gustaw Arnold Fibiger set up a dynamically developing piano factory in Kalisz. He did not enjoy his success for long. The legacy of her husband, who died unexpectedly, was taken over by the widow and later by their son, who managed to successfully continue his father’s work. Instruments made in Kalisz could be heard almost all over the world. Although today the factory no longer operates as it used to, the memory about it is still alive among contemporary musicians, craftsmen and former employees, while Kalisz remains the world’s largest piano restoration centre.
