"The grey, wintry landscape opening the film becomes a parallel to the lives of two sisters working at the Transbud company in Katowice. Irena Kamieńska observes the women who mechanically throw bricks every day, their silhouettes disappearing behind the rising dust. The portrayal of labour is accompanied by personal stories filled with injustice, ever-present problems and the challenges of the desire to survive in the harsh communist conditions. The sisters reminisce about their youth, quickly interrupted by the need to take up work. A poignant song about overwork and permanent fatigue, day by day, brick by brick."
