On the banks of the Dniester in Western Ukraine lives an isolated community that ignores socioeconomic development, does not use electricity and adheres to its own version of Christianity. Although two world wars and great floods have left a deep mark on the place, it seems idyllic today. But the village residents must face a new cataclysm. In the face of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, their separation and pacifist views have become a challenge. The film thoughtfully contrasts the archaic community’s daily life with the reality of war trenches. There is something that will, after all, bring these different worlds together.

A Ukrainian author and filmmaker, graduated from the Kyiv National I.K. Karpenko-Kary Theatre, Cinema and Television University. Participant of the Berlinale Talents, Locarno Film Academy, he is the founder of the script platform Terrarium. His first feature, 'Pamfir' achieved a selection at Cannes Film Festival Directors’ Fortnight in 2022. 'Pamfir' has been chosen for a nomination in the category European Discovery – Prix FIPRESCI at the 35th European Film Awards. He is a member of European Film Academy and Ukrainian Film Academy.
