One of the most important contemporary writers, who penned such novels as ‘The Blazing World’ and ‘Ghost Stories: A Memoir’, opens the door to her New York home. She talks about her Norwegian roots, childhood in Minnesota, early days as a writer in a big city and her close ties to feminism. She devotes a great deal of attention to her happy marriage to Paul Auster, who passed away during the filming of this documentary. We can also find out what connects the protagonist to director Wim Wenders or artist Louise Bourgeois.

A director and writer. She initially worked as a makeup artist for film and television. Since 2010, she has been directing documentary films. Her works include portraits of Henry Hübchen (2010), Nan Goldin (2013), Emma Thompson (2016), Paul Auster (2018), and Doris Dörrie (2024). 'Siri Hustvedt – Dance around the Self' is her first feature-length documentary film for cinema. She lives and works in Berlin.
