In 2008, Juliette Binoche collaborated with British dancer Akram Khan to create a performance entitled ‘In-I’. For her, it was a new experience requiring her to master contemporary dance, while for him – an acting challenge. From the many hours of recorded rehearsals, the actress created a documentary that serves as a unique testimony to the creative process and artistic exchange. It is also a record of powerful emotions – both performed and genuine – associated with overcoming one’s own limitations and a close encounter with another human being.

Born in Paris, is an internationally acclaimed French actress known for her artistic versatility and independence. Raised in a creative family with Polish, Brazilian, and Flemish roots, she developed an early love for performance and imagination. After studying theatre in Paris, she gained recognition with André Téchiné’s 'Rendez-vous', presented at Cannes. Her career spans collaborations with leading global directors such as Krzysztof Kieślowski, Michael Haneke, and Claire Denis. Winner of major awards including an Academy Award, BAFTA, and César, she is celebrated for her emotional intensity and fearless choice of roles, from auteur cinema to mainstream films. The success of Anthony Minghella’s nine-Oscar-winning 'The English Patient', along with Philip Kaufman’s 'The Unbearable Lightness of Being' and Lasse Hallström’s 'Chocolat', established her as a truly international actress, recognised worldwide. Yet her need for renewal in her creations always drives her further towards freedom. Her shifts and turns make her elusive. She takes her destiny into her own hands in cinema as well as theatre (Andrei Konchalovsky, Ivo Van Hove, Wajdi Mouawad), devotes herself to music (It’s Worth Living with Alexandre Tharaud), to poetry as to painting (Portraits In-Eyes, published by Place des Victoires), to dance (In-I with Akram Khan) and, most recently,to directing her first documentary film 'In-I In Motion' (2025).
