Human Race
Denmark2025documentary100'Docs+Science
It is a film about a bold genetic project and, at the same time, equally grand ambitions as well as the price of developing science. The protagonist of Simon Lec’s film is Eske Willerslev, an outstanding DNA researcher who competes with time and his rivals, trying to decipher ancient human genomes. This scientific thriller of a Danish documentary filmmaker with Polish roots is also a psychological study of an individual operating under pressure in a competitive environment full of ethical tension. His motivation turns out to be equally interesting as the ancient history of the human species.
