Steps in Silence
Poland, Azerbaijan2025documentary72'National competition
In the conflict-scarred Karabakh region, the process of clearing minefields and removing UXOs is underway. Among the teams working on the ground, there are also those composed entirely of female bomb disposal experts. The camera accompanies them both while they work in the minefield, where every move they make is a matter of life and death, and in their daily home routines. The sound of metal detectors intertwines here with the silence of a return to ordinary duties. By taking such a great risk, these women are fighting to rebuild their safe place and reclaim lost territory.
