Pearl Against the Sun
Poland2025animated11'National competition
Izia and Karo are growing up in a small lakeside town, where their friendship unfolds to the rhythm of time spent together, tender gestures and unspoken understanding. This idyllic setting gives them a sense of belonging, and the film feels like a record of holiday memories – fragmented, gentle and slightly dreamlike. In the background, there are townspeople trapped in their own routines and problems, as if fused with their surroundings. Over time, the summery atmosphere begins to darken, and the coming-of-age story takes on a more unsettling tone.
