Cairo Streets
France2025documentary19'Short film competition
Cairo, 2007. The director uses a brief visit to the city to find a former lover. He has only a few days – and no way of contacting him. Armed with a camera, he walks through the streets and places they once visited together, searching for any trace of his ex. From conversations with people he meets and shots of the city’s various facets, he creates an intimate diary, which becomes the portrayal of Egypt’s bustling capital. Yet every shot is steeped in longing for the great absentee. Will he manage to spot him in the crowd?
