Aboard the Pompelmo Express, an intergalactic cruise for singles, the fates of three lonely protagonists—Delfino, Zenf, and Rita—become intertwined. In an environment focused on the pursuit of sex and pleasure, each of them is confronted with their own understanding of love: Delfino, naive and trusting, believes in its authentic form; Rita, an elderly cleaning lady, remains almost invisible; Zenf, a cynical scientist, treats the journey as an experiment. The absurd, humorous plot reveals what the characters are willing to resort to in order to get a bit closer to the feeling they desire.
